You're totally hired. I want the unicorn to be angry-looking, and make sure there's blood dripping from self-inflicted wounds too. Or you could, like, dull the end of the horn.
And could we put the words, "I just want to be understood" in faint gray text on the black rainbow?

Blood dripping from self-inflicted wounds? Dude, don't mess with me, I got goth street cred. The unicorn would have one tear, and it would be a drop of blood. It would be the only color in the image, thus focusing the viewer's attention on the symbolized pathos.
I like your copy, but it carries a glimmer of hope that is really uncharacteristic of the genre, but not quite ironic enough to be intentionally paradigm-shifting. We need to really capture the ennui with something along these lines:
- "No one understands ... the suicide of my soul ..."
- "I will always be ... the death of my dreams ..."
- "To know me ... is to know the sorrow of eternity ..."
The font, of course, should be either a curly script or old english, and barely legible.
